  3. This README file contains important information about World Book that 
  4. is not in the User Manual.  For the latest information about World 
  5. Book, please read this file in its entirety.

  9. 1. TROUBLESHOOTING
  10.  
  11. 1.1 Open Transport
  12.  
  13. Problem:  When I try to use World Book's online feature, I see an
  14. error message saying that I need Open Transport.
  15.  
  16. Solution: Open Transport is Macintosh system software that allows your
  17. computer to use the Internet.  If Open Transport is not installed, you
  18. will see this error message.  To correct the problem, you must install
  19. Open Transport, which is located in a folder on the World Book CD-ROM
  20. called "Open Transport Installer".  Click on the Open Transport icon
  21. and follow the directions to install the software on your computer.

  24. 1.2 Screen Resolution and Colors
  25.  
  26. Problem:  When I change resolution on my computer, the World Book
  27. window no longer fits on my screen.
  28.  
  29. Solution:  Close and restart World Book.  The program will fit
  30. correctly on the screen.

  32. 1.3 Problem:  Videos, Bubble Views, and animations are fuzzy.
  33.  
  34. Solution:  Increase the number colors on your system from 256 to
  35. thousands or millions.
  36.  
  37. 1.4 Problem:  When I use the Bubble Views, some program buttons are
  38. temporarily replaced by gray rectangles.
  39.  
  40. Solution:  Close any programs that are running at the same time as 
  41. World Book.  If that does not correct the problem, follow the
  42. instructions below:

  44. 1. Close World Book and click once on its program icon.
  45. 2. Click File on the Apple menu, and select Get Info.
  46. 3. In the Memory Requirements section, increase the amount of memory
  47.    displayed in the Preferred Size box by increments of 2000.

  51. 2.1 It is not necessary to identify the location of CD1 and the
  52. download directory at start-up.  World Book identifies these
  53. locations automatically.
